Goat Project Launch in Kisii County Within the next month, Kisii County will play host to the launch of the Widows and Widowers Galla Goat Project an innovative program targeting 135 self-help groups. The initiative will see each group receive six Galla goats, chosen for their high milk yield and resilience, creating a revolving model where goats are bred, shared, and multiplied until all members benefit.

• Household income boost: Goat milk, retailing at KSh 200 per liter in Kenyan towns, will provide immediate cash flow.
• Improved nutrition: Access to fresh milk and meat will directly improve family diets.
• Value addition: Plans are in place to produce yoghurt, cheese, milk juices, and goat sausages, increasing profit margins.
• Job creation: Veterinary officers, processors, and marketers will be engaged at every stage, opening employment opportunities.

The Kisii pilot is only the beginning. Once proven, the model will be replicated across Kenya and adapted for other counties.
