Poverty Eradication Programme

Poverty Eradication

Juhudi Africa Programme approaches poverty eradication as a structural challenge rooted in skills gaps, limited productive assets, and weak access to dignified livelihoods. Our interventions focus on building income-generating capacity, rather than short-term relief, by combining vocational skills development, enterprise support, and community-based production systems.

How does our poverty eradication programme work?

Juhudi Africa Programme employs a graduation-based model that transitions families from economic vulnerability to long-term self-reliance. This process begins with targeted community identification to reach the most vulnerable households, followed by rigorous, market-aligned training. Instead of providing isolated aid, we integrate the distribution of productive assets such as high-quality livestock with technical mentorship and access to local value chains. For example, our “pass-on” system ensures that the benefits of a single asset circulate through an entire village, while our vocational and digital hubs equip youth with the practical competencies needed to enter the workforce immediately. By combining physical resources with skills and market linkages, we ensure that every intervention creates a permanent pathway out of poverty.

Our Focus Areas include the following:

  • Livestock & Asset BuildingImplementing initiatives like the Goat Livelihood Project in Kisii County to provide vulnerable households with resilient assets and improved breeding stock
  • Vocational Skills DevelopmentOffering competency-based training in high-demand trades such as beauty, carpentry, and masonry for quick workforce transition.
  • Enterprise & Market AccessLinking community production systems to local markets to ensure household outputs translate into sustainable income.
  • Integrated MentorshipProviding ongoing business coaching and employability support to ensure long-term success and growth.
